Sunderland: Fans call for Phil Parkinson to be sacked

To say Sunderland fans have had enough of Phil Parkinson could be considered a huge understatement if their Twitter feed is anything to go by.

For many of them, it appears their 1-0 defeat to Gillingham on Saturday was the final straw as a huge number of them took to the social media network to vent their frustration at the club and demanded that their current manager be handed his P45.

Indeed, since sacking Jack Ross, the former Bolton Wanderers manager has failed to have the desired impact whilst at the Stadium of Light.

Parkinson has an unwanted record of eight defeats in his 12 matches in charge of Sunderland so far (TransferMarkt), with just two wins to his name – which has left the Black Cats further away from the play-off spots than ever before.

Whilst many of the supporters took aim at the board for another poor performance, a lot of them all agreed that the 52-year-old is not the man to lead the charge and help them finally make a return to the Championship and want to see him gone as soon as possible.

Here are just some of their reactions…
