Sunderland are not having a good season and as things stand it is hard to make a case for them making the play-off places by the end of the campaign.
They are not far away points-wise but in terms of form and confidence they are well away from where they need to be and from where those above them are.
Indeed, the fans have largely turned on manager Phil Parkinson already, judging by the raw emotion that regularly follows a defeat on social media, and it seems safe to assume that he is already walking a tightrope.
What might not help matters, then, is the news that it looks as though Aiden McGeady could be out of the club as early as January with him evidently not seeing eye to eye with the manager and training away from the first team.
This comes from The Chronicle’s James Hunter:
Understand that Aiden McGeady has been told he can leave #safc in January. He is not currently training with the first team squad

McGeady is a match-winner on his day but could be on the brink of an exit and that has got Sunderland fans saying plenty. Let’s see what’s been said among those that are disappointed by the news:
Madness, out best player being miss managed by a dinosaur

Mismanaged by Parkinson. Keep McGeady, get rid of Parkinson!

Best player by a mile most creative and gets goals

McGeady has to shoulder some of the blame, but can't help think a different manager could of got him motivated and fired up…….instead we're losing our most talented player in January for the second season running.

I predict another jack Rodwell scenario

Bad move from SAFC. Needs to be managed not sold. Mind you if I was booed and called Mcgreedy by our wonderful loyal fans…I'd be on my bike sharpish. Another decent player demoralised and then hounded out.
