Sunderland: Fans gush over Chris Maguire’s hat-trick of assists

Chris Maguire had a day to remember for Sunderland on Saturday afternoon, as he helped to seal the win against Bristol Rovers with a hat-trick of assists, which unsurprisingly left a number of the Mackems’ faithful buzzing on Twitter.

The Scottish attacker helped provide goals for Lynden Gooch, Charlie Wyke and Luke O’Nien in a 10-minute or so spell towards the end of the game as he gave the Black Cats a huge lift in their efforts to try and win promotion back to the Championship automatically.

Indeed, although the three assists he had in the match would have been what almost everybody on Wearside would have been talking about, the 31-year-old had made a significant impact across the field for Sunderland.

Maguire played eight key passes to his team-mates, had four efforts at goal and completed four dribbles as he was handed a match rating of 9.75 by WhoScored following the conclusion of the contest.

Fans could not stay away from Twitter once the game had finished, with many sharing on the social networking site how much they enjoyed his performance and just what exactly the Scotsman meant to their side’s chances of securing promotion back to England’s second-tier.

Here are just some of their reactions…
