Sunderland: Fans identify potential Jon McLaughlin replacement

Many Sunderland fans have identified potential replacements for goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin, who has been linked with a move to Blackburn Rovers.
The Black Cats’ number one is currently set to leave the Stadium of Light this summer upon the expiry of his contract, having failed to agree terms over a new deal. With his future very much up for debate, The Sun journalist Alan Nixon, has reported that McLaughlin could be on the verge of signing a deal with Championship side Blackburn.
The 32-year-old has made 32 league appearances this season with Sunderland, having had spells with Harrogate Town, Bradford City and Burton Albion before hand.
Discussing potential replacements for McLaughlin and seemingly resigned to his departure, some Sunderland fans have mentioned several names, including Vito Mannone, who spent four years at the club and will see his current deal with Esbjerg expire this summer.
Transfer Tavern’s Ben Crump asked fans via Facebook group Sunderland AFC Fans Group: “So, who we going to get to replace McLaughlin?”, and below are just some of the replies…
SAFC Black Cats News Page: Burge with Patterson as back up. We won’t buy it get a free one in…. means a transfer fee or more wages
Gary Crighton: Burge & Patterson in that order. Cheap
Paul Cromack: Lee Camp
Chris Smith: We won’t finish top half with Burge in goal
Daniel Connor: Probably a League 2 keeper
Marti Ost: Jan Oblak’s release clause is £100m. Too steep?
Stephen Scott: It will be Ben Alnwick
Sean Tatum: Vito is going to be on a free
Kieran Richardson: Vito Mannone is free
