Whilst some Sunderland fans would likely have been in hysterics when Lynden Gooch found the back of the net with a screamer from outside the box to win their match against Milton Keynes Dons 1-0, some of the club’s faithful noticed one of their own player’s apparent lack of jubilation.
The Black Cats have come into a fine run of form recently as it would seem Phil Parkinson has finally found a system and method that works for them and has started to bring some positivity back to the Wearsiders in recent weeks. Indeed, the Mackems are unbeaten in their last seven matches and have won four of their last five to date (Sky Sports).
Whilst the American’s goal sparked some rapturous scenes at the Stadium MK, it appeared Lynch was not in the mood to join in with the celebrations; something some fans spotted and shared on Twitter. It was strange as it was not as if the Welshman had a poor game. In fact, according to WhoScored, he was the best player on the pitch as he picked up their Man of the Match award with the five clearances and one blocked shot he managed to make.
Although the reason is unknown, it did not go unnoticed. Here are just some of their reactions…
Look at Joel Lynch when Gooch’s screamer goes in. Doesn’t even flinch never mind celebrate. Don’t mean to be overly critical but does no one else think that seems a bit strange? #SAFC https://t.co/74CVBRYCsK

What's your opinions on the lack of celebration/ emotion on Joel Lynch's face when we scored? Guy acted as if we conceeded.
