Sunderland fans are not in a very good place at the moment. Having missed out on a chance to go up from League One automatically they ended the season in an abysmal 5th after losing to Southend yesterday. The Shrimpers win saw them stay in the division, but the Mackems now face a playoff clash with Portsmouth.
“We were a long way short of where we needed to be today”

After the game, Jack Ross bravely stepped forward to face the media, and he will have known that a bashing was brewing amongst his own fans. The Black Cats have struggled a lot this season and despite the fact that their fans believed this season would be a fairly straightforward one, it hasn’t gone to plan as they’ve finished six points off the automatics and nine off the top.
Whether or not Jack Ross has a future at the club is going to be down to how they got on in the next few weeks with a playoff semi-final against Portsmouth before a Wembley playoff final against either Doncaster Rovers or Charlton Athletic. Promotion should see Ross survive, but the odds on him staying at the Stadium of Light if Sunderland remain in the third tier of English football must be slim.

Even if we get promoted through the playoffs, can you really see Ross leading the team to the Premier? Nee chance….

You are Clueless Mr Ross! No chance in these play offs! In this division next season hopefully with a new manager!

Broken man. Looks lost and hasn’t got a clue how to learn from his mistakes
— Glen Anderson (@GlenAnderson_) May 4, 2019
The Black Cats don’t seem at all bothered by what Ross’ sacking would mean for them now and would be happy to go ahead and get rid of him now if they could.
