Sunderland: Fans pleased with link to Martin Olsson

After failing to win promotion to the Championship last season, Jack Ross has actively been looking for players to improve the Sunderland first-team, and an interesting name has popped up.

Football Insider report that the Black Cats are lining up a move for former Swansea City and Norwich City left-back Martin Olsson, who is now a free agent after leaving the Welsh side last season upon the expiration of his contract.

The Swedish defender has close to 350 appearances across the Premier League and Championship (per Transfermarkt) and has been an established member of the Sweden national team since 2010.

As can be expected, Sunderland fans were pleased to see the club linked with a defender with an abundance of experience in English football, and supporters took to social media to praise the club in their attempts to sign Olsson.

Here is how some Sunderland fans reacted to the news on Twitter…

Sunderland have signed five players so far this summer (per Transfermarkt).
