After the news emerged recently that Sunderland are interested in signing Wigan’s Will Grigg, we discussed whether this was a good idea or not.
Grigg does not appear to be in great form at the moment for The Latics, and while he would be dropping down a league to join The Black Cats, there are other options that are more viable. Sunderland have also shown interest in Ayr United striker Lawrence Shankland, who has 18 Scottish Championship goals already this season.
With that in mind, we asked you which player you would rather Sunderland sign, and these were the results:
At 23 years of age, and a raft of goals in the Scottish Championship so far this season, there is no surprise that Sunderland fans favour Shankland over Grigg. The Scot is in sensational form, while Grigg only has four goals in the Championship so far this season. For a club that wants success as soon as possible, Sunderland should definitely look to Shankland.
