Sunderland attacker Chris Maguire has picked up his second straight Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month award.
The Scottish winger won the award in September following his left-footed strike into the top corner away at Burton Albion in a 2-1 defeat for Jack Ross’ men, and now the 29-year-old, who made the move to the Stadium of Light during the summer, has won the award for the month of October too for a finish with his right foot, this time at home to Southend United.
He intercepted a loose pass before driving at the Shrimpers backline and, with no one closing him down, the former Scotland international hammered the ball about as far into the top corner as the ball could go.
‘The King’ has been in fine form this season with five goals and four assists in 19 appearances in League One, with his eye for goal again having been rewarded – if he continues in this fashion, his goals can help Sunderland return to the Championship at the first time of asking.

Unsurprisingly, news of Maguire’s award victory stimulated quite a response from Sunderland supporters on Twitter, with plenty full of praise for their King…
