Sunderland supporters have been in fine voice in the last few hours after seeing their side record a third successive victory in League One on Tuesday night.
Jack Ross’ men went into their trip to fellow high-flyers Doncaster Rovers off the back of wins over Shrewsbury Town and Bradford City in their preceding two matches, and thus full of confidence ahead of the clash with Grant McCann’s Rovers. And the Black Cats returned to the North East with all three points as a Chris Maguire strike just after half time was enough to secure a 1-0 win for Ross’ side, thus keeping them third in the League One table.
As such, there have been many thrilled Sunderland fans up and down the country in recent times, several of whom have taken to Twitter both during and indeed after the game to heap praise on goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin for his heroics in their victory at the Keepmoat Stadium.
The 31-year-old made the move to the Stadium of Light during the summer after leaving Scottish outfit Hearts at the expiration of his contract, and he has since been an absolute revelation for the Black Cats in keeping two clean sheets and shipping just 13 goals prior to Tuesday’s trip to Doncaster.
And the goalkeeper can add another clean sheet to his tally after an excellent display between the sticks, including two outstanding saves just before half time to enable Ross’ men to go in level at half time.
And the £360,000-rated (as per Transfermarkt) star’s efforts certainly didn’t go unnoticed among several Sunderland fans on Twitter…
McLaughlin you absolute legend

The signing of Jon McLaughlin could be the most important piece of business we have done this season. Won us points already with penalty saves against Fleetwood and Bradford. Much better than the absolute rotten ones we had last season. Two big saves at the end of the half.

McLaughlin, that was heroic.
