Sunderland: Fans rip into Charlie Wyke for his poor performance

Sunderland: Fans rip into Charlie Wyke for his poor performance

Sunderland might have overcome Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon, however a number of fans were left fuming with Charlie Wyke after his most recent performance.

Chris Maguire netted the only goal of the game to get the Mackems back to winning ways after having slipped up against Portsmouth last time out and put them back into promotion contention with a spot in the play-offs currently.

However, it would seem a number of fans were not entirely impressed with what they saw at the Stadium of Light as many of them took to Twitter to criticise Wyke.

According to data collected by WhoScored, the 27-year-old was kept incredibly quiet throughout the game by the Tractor Boys’ defence as he had just four touches of the ball. The forward tried his best to make the most of his limited opportunities, having one shot at goal which was on target.

But he failed to have a significant impact on the game and that appeared to infuriate some of the Sunderland faithful, with some stating that he just was not good enough for the Wearsiders.

Here are just some of their reactions…
