Many Sunderland fans have handed Stewart Donald a ‘one-word’ verdict on his time in charge of the club.

Following the Black Cats’ relegation to the League One, Donald would take over from former owner Ellis Short.

Reaching the play-offs last season, it had looked hopeful that Sunderland were on route back to England’s second flight, but Charlton proved to be too strong in the final.

Embarking on a second season in the third-tier, Donald opted to bring in Phil Parkinson as manager to replace Jack Ross but he has failed to find consistent form at the Stadium of Light.

Sitting 7th in the League One table as things stand, the former Premier League club look set to miss out on a potential play-off place, leaving fans questioning which direction the club is going in.
