Sunderland fans have taken part in a debate via social media, discussing who they think has been the club’s best ever bargain buy.
With football at a current standstill due to the recent pandemic, fans have been engaging with each other via social media to keep themselves in the football bubble.
Sunderland, who have had a up and down couple of seasons, documented via Netflix series ‘Sunderland Till I Die’, could potentially gain promotion to the Championship this year, sitting just outside the play-offs at present (BBC Sport).
Over the years, fans of the club have seen a number of superb players come through their doors, including the likes of Kevin Phillips, who fans opted to select more than most in the debate thrown up by the Sunderland Echo.
Phillips was known for his excellent goalscoring ability during his career, and he was named Premier League top scorer whilst playing for the Black Cats in the 1999/2000 season, netting 30 league goals.
Reacting to the tweet from @sunechosafc, fans opted to select a variety of different names…
