Our Sunderland fans here in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that their side is going to be firing on all cylinders once the new campaign gets underway this weekend.
The men from the Stadium of Light will be eager to see their side perform better than they have done in the last few years and try and win promotion straight back into the Premier League.
Whether they can or not, though, remains to be seen with Simon Grayson tasked with getting a tune out of his current players though it appears he has been handed a boost in the chase for Ross McCormack.
The Aston Villa striker fell out with Steve Bruce last season and looks likely for a move away from Villa Park – particularly if you take into account his current manager’s latest words.
Indeed, as quoted by Chronicle Live, Bruce said:
“There’s been an enquiry. I don’t know. There’s been enquiries from a couple of clubs, that might happen in the next week or so, we’ll wait and see.”
McCormack, then, could be on his way to Sunderland before, too, long with them being linked with the player by the report.
McCormack had a poor season last year after falling out with Steve Bruce but he is still a good player and in the right atmosphere he could prove a top player once more.
For sure, he has the ability to fire a side towards the top six and if Grayson can get him playing well at Sunderland we could see that happen for the Black Cats.
