Sunderland have no fresh injury concerns - Latest News

Sunderland haven’t exactly been at their best in recent times as they’re without a win in their last four League One fixtures, but form goes out the window in the play-offs.

The Black Cats will welcome Portsmouth to the Stadium of Light later on today in the first leg of their League One play-off semi-final clash.

What’s the News?

Supporters received a huge boost ahead of kick-off on Wearside, as according to BBC Sport’s pre-match team news, Aiden McGeady, Lee Cattermole and George Honeyman are all expected to be available.

Of course, having all three key members available for selection would be massive for the Black Cats in what will be the biggest game of their season yet, with a positive result putting them one step closer towards promotion.

George Honeyman has been influential in the final third this season, producing eight goals and three assists. Ross will need his creativity in the final third to unlock what could be a sturdy Portsmouth defence.

Meanwhile, Cattermole is enjoying arguably one the best seasons in his football career as he’s been able to produce a number of valuable contributions, as well as playing a big part in the defensive third.

Lastly, Aiden McGeady could have the biggest part to play in what will no doubt be a close tie, with a moment of brilliance from the Irishman possibly proving to be the difference.

Sunderland fans, you must be delighted to see that all three players are expected to be available? Join in with the discussion below by sharing your thoughts with us.
