Sunderland have proved talent can’t outweigh a bad attitude with this departure

The Sunderland fans are in the Transfer Tavern tonight and there seems to be a 50/50 split in opinion regarding the loaning out of Jeremain Lens.

Reports have confirmed the departure of Sunderland’s Dutch winger, Jeremain Lens in a one-year loan deal to Besiktas.

Whilst Sunderland fans might not be happy with this decision due to the player’s impressive performances in Sunderland’s pre-season games, our landlord has garnered a lot of respect for Sunderland over their decision.

Lens found his playing time very limited at Sunderland since he signed two years ago.

Sam Allardyce dropped him and his career at the club never fully recovered.

However, the reason big Sam dropped the then 27-year-old was due to an apparent bad attitude.

In all honesty, there is no apparent there.

Lens is a good enough player to get into the Sunderland first team so there must be some reason as to why he wasn’t making it in, and constantly getting sent out on loan.

Yet another loan spell proves that in the day and age of ‘player power’ a bad attitude will still get you nowhere and to be honest, our landlord didn’t think Sunderland had it in them.

Yes, they’re missing out on a good talent but if one bad attitude can upset the balance of a side then any promotion push could end before it even starts.
