Sunderland are believed to be in the hunt for a striker in the January transfer window as Josh Maja is believed to be on the verge of departing.
The 20-year-old is thought to be closing in on a switch to French side Girondins de Bordeaux which has led to Jack Ross becoming desperate to land a new frontman.
And, according to a report, it appears they have identified one of their League One rival’s main men as their main target.
The 26-year-old has been in fine form for The Tykes this season as they look to win promotion to the Championship themselves.
Moore has 15 goals to his name so far this season across all competitions, including a brace against Sunderland earlier in the season.
Moore has been grabbing the headlines in League One with his goalscoring ability so far this season and would be considered a great replacement for the outgoing Maja.
However, with Barnsley also looking to win promotion back to the Championship themselves, it remains to be seen if they will do a deal with Sunderland this January and will want to keep hold of their best players.
The Black Cats could have a battle on their hands to land the 26-year-old, but if they did, their promotion chances would surely be handed a significant boost despite Maja’s expected departure.
