Sunderland are thought to be keen on adding to their attacking line as they look to continue their efforts to win promotion to the Championship.
Jack Ross’ side are currently in great form and find themselves third in League One, looking good to make a swift return to the second tier.
The Black Cats have been without some of their attacking options for the majority of the campaign already, and it appears as though they will look to use January as an opportunity to add firepower to the squad.
It is being claimed Connor Wickham is being considered for a return to the Stadium of Light after a nightmare time at Crystal Palace.
The 25-year-old has been plagued with injuries during his time at Selhurst Park, which has not put Sunderland off from trying to bring him back.
However, it is thought that Ross will face some competition, with Middlesbrough thought to be holding an interest in the player.
Before Wickham was hit with his unfortunate spell of injuries, he was an exciting prospect for Sunderland during his time in the northeast.
He was sold to the London outfit in 2015 after numerous loan spells away from the club, but it would appear a return to the club could be on the cards.
However, with Championship interest and with Palace thought to be keen on a Boro attacker, Sunderland could have some trouble trying to bring Wickham back to the Stadium of Light.
