Sunderland keen on bringing Will Grigg on loan - Latest News

Sunderland are continuing their aims to win promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

The Black Cats are currently sitting third in League One and are prepared to try and bolster their chances of achieving an automatic spot.

According to a report by The Daily Mail (8 January, page 72), via HITC Sport, Sunderland are thought to be keen on bringing Wigan Athletic’s Will Grigg to the Stadium of Light.

The Latic’s forward has not had his best season for the Championship side this season, having made a limited number of appearances.

The Northern Ireland international has featured just 16 times in the second tier so far but has four goals to his name.

Sunderland are keen to bring Grigg to the Stadium of Light as the 27-year-old has an excellent record in League One and was key to helping Wigan win promotion from the division last season.

The Verdict:

There is no real doubt that Grigg would be an excellent addition for Sunderland in January if they were to bring him in.

As mentioned, the Northern Ireland international has a solid record in League One, having netted 19 goals in his 43 appearances last season.

The 27-year-old could be the difference in helping the Black Cats achieve an automatic promotion spot or a place in the playoffs.
