Sunderland look set to miss out on Mo Eisa after bid rejected

Sunderland have missed out on a number of their attacking targets this summer as they look to rebuild their side for a charge back to the Championship.

The Black Cats are determined to get the club back into the second-tier at the first time of asking and will be confident of achieving those aims under the new era of new ownership and a new manager.

However, Jack Ross’ new side have already missed out on the likes of Lyle Taylor, Florian Kamberi and Gavin Reilly this summer and it appears they could be about to miss out on Mohamed Eisa as well.

According to a report by Gloucestershire Live, Sunderland had a bid rejected for the Cheltenham Town striker and it appears that they could lose out to Portsmouth in the race for his signature.

The Black Cats, along with Peterborough United, have both had bids turned down in the region of £1million, however, it is believed the 24-year-old’s future is to be resolved within the next 48 hours.

The Verdict:

Sunderland will be disappointed to have missed out on another striker this summer as they look to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion back to the Championship.

Eisa would certainly have boosted their chances if he were to join the Stadium of Light outfit, with his goalscoring form for the Robins one that has made him one of the most wanted attackers in the Football League.

Sunderland will need to turn their attention elsewhere, barring the possibility of making a late and improved bid for the 24-year-old, as Ross will want to ensure he has his squad as strong as possible before the 9 August deadline.
