Sunderland looking into sacking Papy Djilobodji

Sunderland are considering all their options as they look to offload their wantaway players form the club.

According to a report by The Sun, the Black Cats are considering the possibility of sacking Papy Djilobodji, who finally reported to training with the team yesterday (Wednesday) – 72 days late.

The League One outfit had been looking to sell the Senegal defender as they looked to get rid of him permanently, however, it is believed potential moves had fallen through.

However, they are now pursuing legal options in order to get rid of the former Chelsea man, which could include cancelling his contract with the club.

The 29-year-old is not the only player to have refused to train with the Stadium of Light side, with Didier Ndong also having gone AWOL since the club were relegated from the Championship.

However, Dilobodji has since returned to training, although he was kept away from the first-team as it has been made clear that Jack Ross does not want him there.

The Verdict:

The saga between the players and Sunderland has been going on for far too long now.

The club would be best off cancelling the player’s contracts if they were legally able to do so, so they can turn their complete attention to the League One campaign and focus on winning promotion back to the Championship.

It is no surprise that Djilobodji has returned to the club following failed attempts to get a move away, however, he will not be involved with Sunderland moving forward.
