Sunderland: Many fans left drooling over Max Power strike

Sunderland: Many fans left drooling over Max Power strike

Max Power scored his second spectacular goal of the week to help Sunderland secure a 2-1 victory over MK Dons on Saturday.

When Charlie Wyke’s pass came towards him, rather than taking a touch, the 26-year-old struck it first time, sending the ball flying into the top corner from outside the box, as shown in the highlights video on Sunderland’s official YouTube channel.

This comes after he scored the only goal of the game in the Carabao Cup win against Sheffield United on Wednesday, when a corner routine led to Luke O’Nien playing Power the ball, before he dropped his shoulder to work some space and fired the ball into the top corner, as shown on Sheffield United’s YouTube channel.

Sunderland’s Twitter account posted a pretty unique video to mark the goal once the game had ended:

Many Sunderland fans have absolutely loved the goals, with the second strike getting a similar amount of attention to the first, while they also enjoyed the video.

These are, in fact, the only two goals Power has managed to score this season, as per WhoScored, so there may be plenty of Black Cats fans who will hope to see him pop up with some more eye-catching strikes, or even a scruffy goal or two, as the campaign continues.

A selection of Twitter reaction to the goal and the club post, including posts from joyous Sunderland fans, can be seen below:
