Sunderland were left frustrated by Shrewsbury Town on Saturday as they went on to lose 1-0 with the result putting the Black Cats eighth in the league.

Phil Parkinson the right man for Sunderland?

Following the game, Phil Parkinson spoke to the club’s official channels, taking positives from his side’s performance during the game despite the loss.

He also claimed that the Black Cats will be able to get plenty of wins in League One if they continue to play as they did in that game:

Many Sunderland fans have taken issue with what Parkinson said, as they don’t agree with it, especially as Shrewsbury are still only 12th in the league following their victory.

The Black Cats had 61.7% of the game’s possession, while they also had 11 more shots than Shrewsbury, as per WhoScored, but it was the home side that walked away with the three points thanks to Jason Cummings’ finish.
