Denver Hume put in a brilliant performance for Sunderland against Southend United, as he helped keep a clean sheet and assisted the only goal of the game.
It was his pinpoint cross that was met with a diving header from Luke O’Nien to earn all three points for the Black Cats, as shown in the highlights video on the Southend United Football Club YouTube channel.
The 23-year-old was superb going forward, completing all 3 of his attempted dribbles, making 4 key passes and completing 86% of his attempted passes during the game, as per WhoScored.
Following the game, the left-back spoke of his delight at picking up the three points and the contribution he was able to make:
“It’s massive to get the clean sheet and three points.”

Many Sunderland fans were also thrilled with what he managed to produce on the pitch, claiming he was their Man of the Match, with some even suggesting it was Hume’s best-ever performance for the club.
There have been some suggestions that the team need to improve their level of performance despite the win, but no such comment was seemingly made towards the left-back.
