Our resident Sunderland fans here in the Transfer Tavern are getting desperate to see new signings before the window shuts tomorrow and, according to The Times’ journalist Paul Joyce, they could be about to get two.
The Black Cats have had another woeful season this time around with them once again in the relegation zone and so any help they can get in to avoid the drop will surely be welcomed.
The signings of Gibson and Oviedo will hopefully, for them, help them get on track for the rest of the year and it appears the deals are all but done with medicals for each due today.
Both players have had very little game-time at Everton this season since Ronald Koeman’s arrival and this potential deal marks that they are clearly not part of the Dutchman’s plans going forward.
They could be integral to Sunderland’s, though, and our resident supporters of the north east club are certainly hoping David Moyes is getting this right.
Our landlord isn’t too sure, though, and is going to reserve judgement until they’ve played a few games each for the club.
