As quoted by The Sunderland Echo, David Moyes has revealed that Fabio Borini should be in the squad to face Swansea this weekend – much to the happiness of our Black Cats fans here in the Transfer Tavern.
The Italian has been out for a considerable amount of time through injury during which Sunderland have recovered from almost being destined to go down to looking like they’re more than capable of staying up this season.
And ahead of a crucial six-pointer against fellow relegation candidates Swansea City, one of the Welsh club’s former players should be fit for the men from the north east to at least make the bench.
Speaking about the attacking player, manager Moyes said simply:
“Fabio is just about ready to be involved after one week in training.”
Our landlord thinks the former Liverpool man will be a welcome boost to the squad’s cause this year especially as we head into the busy Christmas period.
That’s because whilst he isn’t the most prolific of players he does have a knack of scoring in the big games and they certainly won’t come much bigger than this one for the club this season.
A win could see them climb as high as 15th this weekend whilst a potential eight-goal swing involving Crystal Palace could even see them reach 14th whilst our landlord genuinely thinks they’ll be fine this year.
