Sunderland are flying high in League One at the moment as they look to make a swift return to the Championship.
The Black Cats are currently sitting in third place and are just five points off the leaders Portsmouth as they head into the second half of the season.
Jack Ross is believed to be keen to add some additional firepower to his squad in January and it appears that the club have already been making movements.
The Wigan Athletic man is a proven goalscorer in League One and the Wearside outfit are keen to bring the Northern Ireland international to the club.
The 27-year-old netted 19 times for the Latics last season as he helped them win promotion to the Championship.
If Sunderland manage to bring Grigg to the Stadium of Light, it would be considered a piece of excellent business.
As mentioned, the Northern Irishman is proven at the League One level and could look to make a return to the division as he currently struggles to hold down a place in the team at Wigan.
However, whether the Championship outfit will be prepared to let the 27-year-old leave the club could be another thing.
