Josh Maja has been battling with an ankle injury for the last couple of weeks, but it is not considered serious enough to rule him out of contention for the game on Tuesday.
Sunderland will still be without Bryan Oviedo and Max Power who are both serving suspensions, whilst Glenn Loovens has not yet returned to training.
With Portsmouth currently racing away at the top of League One, Sunderland will be keen on picking up the three points on Tuesday night.
The Mackems will know that they will need to be at their best for the match against Doncaster, as they have been performing well in the competition themselves.
Maja being available will be a huge boost for the Black Cats as he has been prolific in front of goal this season and will likely keep his place in the team for the game.
