Sunderland will be preparing to host Peterborough United at the Stadium of Light on Tuesday as they look to close the gap at the top of League One.
The Black Cats will want to return to winning ways after being held to a draw by Coventry City at the weekend, leaving them five points off the leaders.
The Posh have been playing exceptionally well this season themselves and will provide the Mackems with their toughest test to date, one that Jack Ross will be hoping his side are ready for.
The match against Coventry saw Glenn Loovens, Denver Hume and Lynden Gooch all receive knocks that have forced them to miss the game on Tuesday night.
Lee Cattermole is the other man to be unavailable for selection after he picked up his fifth yellow card of the campaign and will serve a one-match ban.
Sunderland will be looking to get back to winning ways rather quickly although the test against Peterborough could prove to be difficult.
The four players absent for the Black Cats would all have likely played starting roles for Ross’ team and now he will need to figure out who can replace them.
There is some good news that Gooch is not expected to miss too much action, whilst Cattermole will be available for selection when they travel to Bradford City at the weekend.
