Sunderland team news: Two could feature against Oxford United

Sunderland will welcome Oxford United to the Stadium of Light on Saturday as they look to continue their fine start to life in League One.

The Black Cats currently occupy second place in the league and will be looking to close the gap on leaders Peterborough United.

And, according to the club’s official website, Jack Ross may have been handed a timely boost ahead of the game.

It is believed that both Charlie Wyke and Tom Flanagan could both feature in the clash against the U’s on Saturday.

The former Bradford City striker is yet to play for his new side since signing in July, however, it looks as though he could make his debut very soon for the Black Cats.

However, with the possible returns, Ross also has a couple of players that remain doubtful. Both Glenn Loovens and Adam Matthews are thought to be concerns ahead of the League One fixture, whilst Aiden McGeady, Jerome Sinclair and Duncan Watmore remain unavailable through injury.

The Verdict:

Sunderland will be looking to take the three points from Oxford on Saturday and will have an air of confidence heading into the game.

The Black Cats are on a fine run of form, whilst there is a stark contrast to their opponents, with the U’s having only picked up three points from their first five games.

Sunderland will be pleased to see Wyke edging closer to fitness and making an appearance, however, Josh Maja has been filling in impeccably and will want to continue his own great form against Oxford.
