Taylor and Maddison would take Sunderland to the next level

Taylor and Maddison would take Sunderland to the next level

Sunderland have enjoyed a rather promising start to proceedings under Jack Ross as they continue to hunt down an automatic promotion place.

The Black Cats will be desperate to bounce straight back to the Championship at the first time of asking after a woeful campaign at the Stadium of Light last time out.

Indeed, the Wearside club have been completely redefined under Jack Ross and are currently heading in the right direction, with a few minor improvements perhaps needed to really push for an automatic place.

So, the January transfer window could prove vital come the end of the season, with a couple of quality signings possibly ensuring the promotion supporters are calling out for.

With that in mind, here’s a look at TWO January signings that would take Sunderland to the next level…

Lyle Taylor

Lyle Taylor left AFC Wimbledon and joined Charlton Athletic on a free transfer during the summer, and it’s safe to say that he hasn’t looked back since, scoring a handful of goals already for the Addicks.

Indeed, Sunderland have just had to deal with news that summer signing Charlie Wyke is out for an extended period of time, so they’ll need to bring in back-up to support the in-form Josh Maja in January.

Marcus Maddison

Marcus Maddison has surprisingly seen very little football so far this season as he seems to find himself on the substitutes’ bench more often than not, after an astonishing campaign last time out for the Posh.

Therefore, perhaps the Black Cats should make a move for him during the January transfer window to provide him with regular game time, as he has the potential to be playing Premier League football one day if he is given the platform to grow at a club.
