‘Thanks for the memories’ – Many Newcastle fans on Twitter joke about signing absolute flop

The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been making the same joke that they should jump in and sign the ex-Sunderland midfielder, Jack Rodwell. The midfielder has been one of the biggest flops in Sunderland history and has finally agreed on a deal with the club to cancel his contract.

Rodwell signed for the club from Manchester City back in summer 2014 and after 76 appearances for the club in four years, including two relegations, the 27-year-old midfielder will now be leaving the Stadium of Light and will reportedly be making a move to the MLS this summer, with the hope of putting his shocking spell at Sunderland behind him.

Now though, the Magpies have been joking that they should sign the midfielder. If it wasn’t for the fact that Rodwell is absolutely useless then he would probably make for a good signing at the club. Newcastle could be losing Mikel Merino this summer and they will be looking for a good replacement to play in midfield to deputise for both Jonjo Shelvey and Mo Diame.

As you can see, the Newcastle fans are enjoying this news from the Stadium of Light and will enjoy watching them in League One even more.
