This experienced Championship striker could fill in the gaps at Sunderland

The Sunderland fans in the Tavern tonight are growing more converned about the lack of a replacement striker, but that could soon change.

Following on from Jermain Defoe and Fabio Borini’s departures from the club, Sunderland find themselves in desperate need of a new striker.

No offence to all the Black Cat fans out there, but your club doesn’t have much draw at the moment, however Ross McCormack has become an apparent transfer target of Sunderland and it would be easy to see why he’d be open to the move.

McCormack recently endured a horror season with Aston Villa after his move from Fulham and he was even loaned out to Nottingham Forest for the second half of the season.

Whilst that probably won’t fill the Sunderland fans in the tavern with much confidence, McCormack is a very good striker, it just didn’t work out for him at Villa.

For both Leeds and Fulham, he hit a decent return of goals per game.

Unfortunately for Sunderland, it is unlikely that they’d win a race to sign anyone who is also being chased by other clubs, as previously stated they just don’t have the draw power.

No one is looking at McCormack as a viable option at the moment however so Sunderland could sweep in, save him from his Aston Villa nightmare and he could repay them with copious amounts of goals to help get them back to the Premier League.
