It’s been a busy summer for Sunderland so far as Jock Ross looks to clear away some of the deadwood from the squad while also adding some quality to the squad.
The Black Cats brought in six players this summer but have lost Wahbi Kazri, Jermain Lens and most recently youth academy product Joel Asoro.
Due to back-to-back relegations, the club have been unable to keep some of their better players and will now need to heavily reinvest into the squad. However, most recently, news has broken that the club had sold yet another player, Callum McManaman who has rejoined Wigan on a one-year deal.
McManaman has spent six seasons in total at Wigan during his career. The winger who’s also played at West Brom and Sheffield Wednesday, joined Sunderland last summer on a free transfer.
The former Wigan man had a terrible season at the Stadium of light and some of the Sunderland fans are happy to see him go…
Been a waste of space to be honest. Plenty of young lads are now ready to step up and take his place. Players that are showing ambition, fight and a hunger to play for Sunderland. @LukeMolyneux3 the stage is yours mate. #OneOfOurOwn
