Tom Flanagan and Luke O’Nien should never play for Sunderland again

Sunderland have looked rather impressive in the current campaign as they continue to chase promotion straight back to the Championship.

The Black Cats have a strong squad and have looked like they mean business so far this season, with things beginning to click under Jack Ross. Indeed, the League One side still have a long way to go in what will be a tiring campaign, but the early signs are definitely bright.

However, the Sunderland boss will need to think about the futures of a couple of his players after a rather busy summer transfer window.

So, here’s a look at TWO men that should never feature for Sunderland again…

Tom Flanagan

Tom Flanagan joined as a free agent after leaving Burton Albion during the summer, but he hasn’t been able to assert his authority on proceedings since joining the club.

Indeed, the defender has looked less than convincing and finds himself down the pecking order having only made one appearance this season in the EFL trophy.

Therefore, he could face an almost immediate exit in the January transfer window or perhaps a move away on loan.

Luke O’Nien

The central midfielder signed from Wycombe Wanderers during the summer transfer window and was a regular inclusion towards the start of the campaign.

But, he has struggled to have an impact in recent times and finds himself on the substitutes’ bench more often than not, so he could be leaning towards a loan move in the summer transfer window or maybe even a permanent move away with players coming back from injury.
