What does the future hold for Joel Asoro at Swansea City?

Swansea City managed to bring in a number of players during the summer months as they set their sights on promotion straight back to the Premier League.

The Swans added the likes of Bersant Celina, Joel Asoro, Declan John, Barrie McKay, Yan Dhanda and Cameron Carter-Vickers to their ranks in the summer.

However, former Sunderland man Joel Asoro has struggled to adjust to life in the Championship in the current campaign, with just one assist to his name in nine appearances in all competitions.

Indeed, the youngster made a name for himself during his time at the Stadium of Light and was tipped for big things after enjoying his breakthrough season last time out. But, the winger hasn’t appeared on the field for the Swans since their 3-2 loss at the Liberty Stadium against Ipswich Town at the start of October.

Sadly, the likes of Bersant Celina, Connor Roberts, Jefferson Montero and Barrie McKay are all ahead of him in the pecking order, so it has been hard for him to work his way into Graham Potter’s plans.

Therefore, with Sunderland inevitably looking at bringing in reinforcements to help their promotion push in the January transfer window, perhaps they should launch a loan move for their former star.

Swansea City would no doubt be open to letting the teenager leave on loan in January and would be happy to see him return to his former club as they won’t have to worry about him receiving a lack of minutes.

The 19-year-old was a first team regular for Sunderland last term having played 29 times in all competitions for the Black Cats, scoring Championship goals against Boro, Fulham and Hull City. So, having tried and tested him at the Stadium of Light, it makes sense to bring his attacking talents to League One.

What do you think Sunderland fans?
