Worrying Sunderland financial news ahead of January window

As quoted by Chronicle Live, Chief Executive Martin Bain says Sunderland have very limited funds ahead of this January transfer window with our Black Cats fans in the Transfer Tavern hugely concerned.

The north east side have had a terrible season so far and are currently bottom of the league after their latest loss against Chelsea last night.

Whilst that’s nothing to be ashamed of it’s the fact that they lost to fellow strugglers Swansea at the weekend to leave them firmly in the mire this season.

And ahead of January their fans here by the bar were hoping that David Moyes was going to get the chance to build his own team, something he largely missed out on in the summer.

But, it now appears, the former Everton boss will have to duck and dive in the market if he is going to help the club pull of a miraculous escape.

Bain said:

“The word I’ve got for you is limited, I could probably say very limited with regards to the January transfer window.”

Dire straits then for Sunderland with this news coming as a real hammer blow just before the window opens. Our landlord thinks this could be huge in the battle for survival, too, and thinks the Black Cats might just drop now.
