Sunderland managed to secure three vital points against AFC Wimbledon last time out, which pushed them closer towards the automatic promotion places.
Of course, there’s still a long way to go in the current campaign but Jack Ross will feel confident that he has enough firepower at his disposal to get the job done.
Although, Sunderland will travel to the Kassam Stadium to face Oxford United later on today in their next League One fixture. The U’s are unbeaten in their last four games in League One, so the Black Cats will need to be at their best if they are to take anything away from today’s game.
The Black Cats may have secured all three points against the Wombles last time out, but a couple of players looked less than convincing. So, Ross will be praying that this Sunderland DUO don’t let the fans down again today…
Charlie Wyke spent the majority of the first half of the current campaign out on the sidelines battling an injury.
Sadly, he hasn’t exactly been at his best at the Stadium of Light up until this point as he’s only managed to find the back of the net on two occasions, with his last performance against Wimbledon being one of his worst. He was a major disappointment as the physical side of things let him down, and he showed a lack of aggression as well.
So, fans will definitely be expecting more from him later on today as he’s still yet to prove himself on Wearside.
Jimmy Dunne joined Sunderland on loan from Premier League side Burnley last month.
The 21-year-old has started in both of the Black Cats’ previous two League One matches, but his performance at the Stadium of Light last time out was slightly worrying. Indeed, he was nervy in possession and as of yet he hasn’t improved the team’s persistent inability to defend set-pieces.
Therefore, immediate improvements are required if he is to become a favourite at Sunderland.Like what the TT have on offer? Sign up for more notifications!
