Not a bad partnership at all, is it? A large part of why Barnsley remain hot on Luton Town’s heels is due to the form of both Cauley Woodrow and Kieffer Moore across the course of the season.
It speaks volumes that for the seven games Moore has been sidelined through injury lately, Barnsley have failed to score in four of them.
Without Moore starting, it also means there is the lack of a natural partner for Woodrow as himself as Moore excel together, but Woodrow does not have the same connection with Jacob Brown, Mamadou Thiam or Victor Adeboyejo.
Though Moore may be sidelined, for now, we can still compare the importance of the Tykes’ duo…
Woodrow has nearly always had an impressive record when going out on loan and his spell at Barnsley has been no different. Since January, when the deal was made permanent, he has just kicked on from there and continued to develop.
The former England youth international has netted 14 times across all competitions this season. Everyone knew he could finish, but the level of his clinical nature has surely surpassed expectations.
TT Grade: A
Prior to his injury, Moore had netted 18 times in 31 games, helping out with four assists in the process.
The 26-year-old has been able to play a part in the build-up at times, bring fellow teammates into play very well whilst also flourishing in front of goal with an array of different finishes.
Whilst Woodrow may be the more potent finisher of the two, Moore seems to more complete in what he offers to the side beyond just goals. They are both fantastic strikers that help get the best out of each other, but the lack of goals with Moore out of the side just shows how crucial he is to the side.
