They’re both good options, to say the least, aren’t they? Burton Albion host Barnsley on Saturday and the key to the result of the match could lie with one of the frontmen from either side, Cauley Woodrow or Liam Boyce.
Following the 2-2 draw against Coventry City last weekend, the Tykes will be looking to get back to winning ways and distance themselves from the fellow sides chasing automatic promotion.
To do so, they will have to beat Burton. Given their run of two wins on the bounce, they will be no walkover and will be full of confidence ahead of the game.
With that being said, ahead of the game, we assess who could have a greater influence on the result…
Woodrow’s goal against Coventry was his first in four games and that now puts him on 12 League goals for the campaign.
In Kieffer Moore’s absence, Woodrow has had to take on the main goalscoring onus. He will need to display the potency in front of goal that he showed earlier in the season, this time against Burton if Barnsley are to play them off the park at the Pirelli Stadium.
TT Grade: B+
Boyce, who is valued at £450k (by Transfermarkt), may not have netted as frequently as Woodrow in the league despite not being far behind, but, he has been more involved in the build-up play than the Tykes ace, as well as being a poacher, reflected by his seven league assists.
The 27-year-old will need to be on top form to upset Barnsley’s defence, as prior to the aforementioned Coventry game, the Reds had amounted seven clean sheets in a row. So, evidently, Burton will have a hard days work breaking them down but if they are to do so, Boyce will be surely at the forefront of it.
TT Grade: B
In terms of who will be more influential, Boyce could potentially be involved in play more, but the Barnsley defence are likely to remain stern and will do their utmost to keep him quiet.
Woodrow, on the other hand, will surely have more chances come his way in the fixture and having scored last week too, his performance has the greater chance of being decisive in the result. If Woodrow does score for the second time in a row, that consistency will be crucial in the latter stage of the season for the promotion run-in and could really help Barnsley back on their way to the Championship.Like what the TT have on offer?
