### The Lowdown: Bamford’s injury issues

The head coach admitted that ‘Bamford had received a knock in the week’, while Joe Gelhardt, who [didn’t make the matchday squad](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united_aston-villa/index/spielbericht/3838012), wasn’t injured.

Pope tweeted: “JM unhappy that time wasting is not being clamped down upon. Bamford had received a knock in the week. No injury for Gelhardt. Says his mentality is great & he may be used in Papa John’s on Tues.”

### The Verdict: Reason for substitute appearance?

Bamford was named on the bench at Elland Road on Sunday and only played 22 minutes, despite previously featuring for [76](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/leistungsdaten/spieler/183334) minutes and scoring a [hat-trick](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/leistungsdaten/spieler/183334) for the under-21s during the international break.
