# Leeds: Andrea Radrizzani ‘likes’ social media post on Cody Gakpo rumours

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) owner Andrea Radrizzani has liked a post on Twitter regarding a potential late move for PSV Eindhoven forward Cody Gakpo.**

### The Lowdown: Gakpo approach

Gakpo has been a name on the Elland Road radar for the majority of the summer, with rumours returning in recent days.

[Reports](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/leeds-register-cody-gakpo-transfer-interest/) earlier in the month claimed that the Whites made an approach for the player, with [Sky Sports](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/leeds-sky-sports-cody-gakpo-transfer-update/) sharing talk of Leeds registering their interest on Tuesday.

The club appear to be on a late hunt for a new forward, especially after an injury to senior attacker [Rodrigo](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11162323/Leeds-face-injury-blow-form-Rodrigo-suffers-suspected-dislocated-shoulder-against-Everton.html) against Everton.

### The Latest: Radrizzani reacts

[The Telegraph](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2022/08/30/atletico-madrid-readying-20m-bid-aston-villa-midfielder-douglas/) stated on Tuesday evening that Leeds and Everton are in a late race with Southampton for Gakpo’s services. The news quickly emerged on social media, with [Radrizzani](https://twitter.com/andrearadri/likes) then ‘liking’ a Twitter post that relayed the update.

[Fabrizio Romano](https://twitter.com/FabrizioRomano/status/1564942901632815109) has since stated that Gakpo is an option to replace Dan James, who has been linked with a move to Tottenham.

### The Verdict: Club record deal?

PSV are thought to be after a total fee of [£38.4m](https://www.teamtalk.com/southampton/cody-gakpo-transfer-bid-rejected-fee-issue-psv-man-utd-watch) for Gakpo, who has been dubbed ‘[outstanding](https://twitter.com/MichaelJBell09/status/1510335992414314501)‘ by Football Oranje editor Michael Bell, which would be a [record](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/transferrekorde/verein/399) deal for Leeds.

The 23-year-old has been in fine form over the past 12 months, netting a career-best [21](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cody-gakpo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/434675) goals in all competitions during 2021/22.

The left-winger, who can also play centrally, has already scored [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cody-gakpo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/434675) goals and provided [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cody-gakpo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/434675) assists in [166](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/cody-gakpo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/434675) minutes of Eredivisie action this season, so if Leeds can get a deal over the line, it could be a major coup.
