# Leeds: Dean Jones believes Che Adams is a perfect fit

**[Transfer insider](https://twitter.com/DeanJonesSoccer?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor) Dean Jones believes Che Adams is the perfect fit to end [Leeds United’s](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) striker search.**

### The lowdown: Orta approach for Adams

The Whites have been reliably linked with a move for Adams in recent weeks, with [reports](https://theathletic.com/3482631/2022/08/08/ralph-hasenhuttl-southampton/) suggesting that Southampton could be willing to sanction the departure of the striker and an [approach](https://www.footballinsider247.com/nottingham-forest-open-talks-to-sign-adams-exclusive/) from Victor Orta revealed.

Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest, Everton and Newcastle are all also believed to be [keen](https://talksport.com/football/1168094/southampton-not-looking-to-sell-che-adams-interest-everton-newcastle-nottingham-forest-transfer/) on the 26-year-old Scotland international, with the south coast club demanding [£15million](https://www.teamtalk.com/leeds-united/transfer-news-che-adams-bid-lined-up-victor-orta-learns-affordable-asking-price-southampton-striker) for their man.

Now, as Leeds continue to be linked with attacking options such as [Ismaila Sarr](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-transfer-rumours/leeds-ismaila-sarr-arnaud-kalimuendo-transfer-gossip-news-updates/), [Joao Pedro](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/leeds-joao-pedro-ismaila-sarr-transfer-gossip-news-updates/) and Adams himself, one well-informed onlooker has stated why the Scot could be the ideal candidate to bolster Jesse Marsch’s ranks…

### The latest: ‘Good fit’

Speaking to [Give Me Sport](https://www.givemesport.com/88045878-leeds-15m-striker-would-be-good-fit-for-marsch-at-elland-road), Jones – a journalist for [Eurosport](https://www.eurosport.com/dean-jones_aut2710/author.shtml) – claimed that the [19-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/leistungsdaten/spieler/346779) frontman is the perfect target from Orta.

He said: “I can see why they would want to land him. They need that central option up front far more than they need another wide player, in my opinion.

“They keep getting linked to wide players, but they’ve got loads of them so I think Che Adams would be a good fit.”

### The verdict: Spot on

Operating [almost exclusively as a centre-forward](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/346779) throughout his career, Adams would certainly provide genuine competition to Patrick Bamford for a place in the starting XI.

Last season, the former Birmingham frontman – who was hailed as [‘fantastic’](https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/18264043.southampton-manager-ralph-hasenhuttl-praises-che-adams/) by his manager Hasenhuttl in 2020 – [scored eight times and provided three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/346779/plus/0?saison=2021&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) in 33 appearances across all competitions for what was a struggling Saints side for the most part.

Holding an estimated market value of £16.2million and under contract until 2024 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/marktwertverlauf/spieler/346779)), signing Adams for the mooted fee would represent a smart piece of business from Orta and Andrea Radrizanni, adding much-needed strength in depth to the attacking options in the process.

Additionally, with Southampton going through a [period of unrest](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11103359/Southampton-boss-Ralph-Hasenhuttl-borrowed-time-losing-trust-players.html) at present, the player could be keen to seek pastures new and a move to Yorkshire could be the ideal solution.
