# Leeds: Pete O’Rourke assesses Che Adams transfer situation

**Respected journalist Pete O’Rourke has shed some light on the [Leeds United’s](https://www.footballfancast.com/leeds-united-news) links to Southampton striker Che Adams.**

### The lowdown: Whites linked

The Whites have been [linked](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/leeds-southampton-che-adams-transfer-news/) to Adams in recent weeks as Victor Orta attempts to further bolster the attacking ranks at Jesse Marsch’s disposal.

The 26-year-old Scotland international has directly contributed to [33 goals in 110 outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/346779) for Southampton since making the switch from Birmingham but faces an [uncertain future](https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/20618486.southampton-reportedly-willing-sanction-striker-departure-everton-exploring/) on the south past.

Already [linked](https://talksport.com/football/1168094/southampton-not-looking-to-sell-che-adams-interest-everton-newcastle-nottingham-forest-transfer/) to Everton, Newcastle and Nottingham Forest in the window, one well-informed onlooker has suggested that Leeds could hold an advantage in the pursuit…

### The latest: ‘I’m sure…’

Speaking to *The Transfer Tavern*, O’Rourke has suggested that the Whites being a ‘more established’ Premier League outfit could be the key when it comes to the [19-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/nationalmannschaft/spieler/346779/verein_id/3380) star.

He said: “Yeah, I’m sure that goes into the thinking. I’m sure the fact that Leeds are more established than Nottingham Forest who have just come up, it’s going to be a big transitional season for them obviously with so many new players coming into the team as well.

“It does look like it’s going to be a hard battle for them to stay up, while Leeds have obviously lost a couple of key players in Phillips and Raphinha. So again, it could be a hard season for them as well. But I think Leeds are a massive club.

“I think for Che it’s good to have both of them clubs after you but I guess a lot of it comes down to what the project is and what the manager’s plans are that will persuade him where he wants to move if he does move.”

### The verdict: Fingers crossed

[Linked](https://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/1653707/Leeds-Victor-Orta-Premier-League-transfer-news-Watford-Ismaila-Sarr-Joao-Pedro) with a double raid of Watford for Joao Pedro and Ismaila Sarr, it seems certain that the Whites will be adding more striking options to the Thorp Arch ranks before the September 1 deadline passes.

Last season, Adams [scored eight times and provided three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/346779/plus/0?saison=2021&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) in what was often a struggling Southampton side, earning a 6.85 [Sofascore](https://www.sofascore.com/player/che-adams/773409) rating whilst winning 4.5 duels on average per game – highlighting the battling qualities that epitomise the frontman.

[Hailed](https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/20000199.rangers-legend-ally-mccoist-praises-southamptons-che-adams/) as ‘terrific’ and a ‘clever player’ by Scotland legend Ally McCoist, the [£16.2million valued](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/che-adams/marktwertverlauf/spieler/346779) ace can also play on the left and right-wing and therefore would be a brilliant signing for Leeds.
