# Leeds: Illan Meslier interest ‘registered’ by Chelsea

**Chelsea have reportedly ‘registered an interest’ in signing [Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) goalkeeper Illan Meslier.**

### The Lowdown: Klich departs

The Whites have already brought in one player during the January window in [Max Wober](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/30787/leeds-united-complete-max-wober-deal) and have allowed one to depart in Mateusz Klich. The 32-year-old sealed an emotional Elland Road [exit](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/team-news/30800/mateusz-klich-to-leave-leeds-united) on Wednesday and is now set for a move to the MLS to join Wayne Rooney’s DC United.

Another first-team exit from Leeds could well be on the cards in 2023, with Meslier attracting interest from Chelsea, who are owned by [billionaire](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/new-chelsea-owner-todd-boehly-27058907) Todd Boehly and were ranked as the [eighth-richest](https://www.goal.com/en/news/which-are-the-worlds-richest-football-clubs-in-2021/psbb7gblbm6j1m5mc753tv1us) football club in the world by Deloitte in 2022.

### The Latest: Meslier interest from Chelsea

[Get Football France News](https://twitter.com/GFFN/status/1610583563858051072) relayed an update regarding Meslier on Twitter in the last 48 hours.

They claimed that Chelsea have ‘registered an interest’ in signing the Frenchman, while [other recent reports](https://www.getfootballnewsfrance.com/2023/chelsea-interested-in-leeds-illan-meslier/) have suggested that Bayern Munich and Newcastle United are also keen on the shot-stopper.

### The Verdict: No pressure to sell

Meslier has been a virtual ever-present figure for Leeds since their return to the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/), making [89](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/illan-meslier/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/542586) appearances in the top flight.

The Frenchman is still just 22 years of age, has been hailed as ‘[top class](https://www.teamtalk.com/leeds-united/illan-meslier-phil-hay-verdict-highest-value-asset-tottenham-plot-swoop)‘ by Phil Hay and already ranks [44th](https://www.premierleague.com/stats/top/players/saves) in the all-time Premier League saves list in just his third season at that level. He is also under contract in Yorkshire until [2026](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/illan-meslier/profil/spieler/542586), so Leeds are under no pressure to sell.

Chelsea have the financial power to submit a big bid, though, so it will be interesting to see what Leeds would do if they receive a large offer for Meslier at some point this year.
