# Leeds: Whites close to Ismaila Sarr agreement

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) ‘almost’ have an agreement with Watford forward Ismaila Sarr, according to journalist [Santi Aouna](https://twitter.com/santi_j_fm/status/1559541556402585601?s=21&t=ulaayZA9BdGR-cSBC9oJDg).**

### The Lowdown: Gnonto linked with Leeds

The Whites appear to be on the hunt for a new forward before the September 1 deadline, with FC Zurich’s Wilfried Gnonto heavily linked with a move to Elland Road.

[Reports](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/wilfried-gnonto-leeds-transfer-latest-di-marzio/) have suggested that Leeds want to finalise a deal for the 18-year-old before August 25 and have tabled a [€5m](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/leeds-table-wilfried-gnonto-bid-news/) (£4.2m) offer for the Italy international.

He doesn’t appear to be the only forward on whom the club are working, though, with a significant update emerging on Sarr.

### The Latest: Sarr agreement

According to [Aouna](https://twitter.com/santi_j_fm/status/1559541556402585601?s=21&t=ulaayZA9BdGR-cSBC9oJDg), Leeds are ‘strongly interested’ in the Senegal forward and ‘almost’ have a ‘salary agreement with the player’.

The journalist adds that Sarr’s arrival is ‘conditional on a departure’, with Crystal Palace also interested in the forward, who was [labelled](https://www.hertfordshiremercury.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ben-foster-watford-ismaila-sarr-6681008) a “freak” of a talent with “scary” ability by former team-mate Ben Foster and a “[top player](https://www.watfordfc.com/news/munoz-we-are-working-very-hard)” by his one-time Hornets boss Xisco Munoz.

### The Verdict: Unlikely?

Even though this is a relatively key update on Sarr, it appears as if Leeds would only move for the Senegal international if a current Whites player departs, making a move seem unlikely.

One wide forward who has been [linked](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11021125/Leeds-slap-35m-price-tag-Jack-Harrison-amid-Newcastle.html) with an exit is Jack Harrison, although Andrea Radrizzani [has ruled out](https://www.shieldsgazette.com/sport/football/newcastle-united/leeds-united-owners-nine-word-response-when-asked-if-jack-harrison-would-join-newcastle-united-3794549) a move away for the 26-year-old and the player has begun the season in fine form.

Hopefully, a centre-forward like Gnonto will arrive over the coming weeks, with Jesse Marsch [relatively short](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/kadernachposition/verein/399) in that department, especially after recent [injury scares](https://www.premierinjuries.com/injury-table.php) to Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt.
