# Leeds: Whites ‘monitoring’ Goncalo Ramos

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) are reportedly among the clubs ‘monitoring’ Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos, according to [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/goncalo-ramos-attracting-premier-league-interest).**

### The lowdown: Rising star

A product of the youth system at Benfica, 21-year-old Ramos has enjoyed an impressive rise through the ranks in Portugal, directly contributing to [36 goals in just 55 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/550550) for the youth sides.

The [prolific](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/nationalmannschaft/spieler/550550/verein_id/16374) Portugal youth international has since [scored 17 times in 62 outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/550550/verein/294) for the first team and has become the main centre-forward option for the Portuguese giants following the departure of Darwin Nunez to Liverpool.

Having already attracted interest from [Nottingham Forest](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/nottingham-forest-news/nottingham-forest-premier-league-goncalo-ramos-transfer-news-updates/) and [Wolves](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/wolves-transfer-rumours/bruno-lage-goncalo-ramos-henrique-araujo/) this summer, now it appears as though Leeds are also keen on landing Ramos…

### The latest: ‘Monitoring’

As per [90min](https://www.90min.com/posts/goncalo-ramos-attracting-premier-league-interest), Leeds, Crystal Palace, Everton, West Ham and Wolves are all ‘monitoring’ the [18-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/nationalmannschaft/spieler/550550/verein_id/16374) Under 21 starlet.

It’s claimed that Nottingham Forest and Newcastle have both ‘held talks’ regarding a deal whilst Ligue 1 powerhouses Paris Saint-Germain are ‘also keen’ on Ramos.

The report states that manager Roger Schmidt is yet to be ‘fully convinced’ that the man who was [likened to Liverpool icon Roberto Firmino](https://twitter.com/FTalentScout/status/1309197544577290244) by football talent scout Jacek Kulig can replace Nunez and Benfica could be looking for bids in the region of £30million.

### The verdict: Go all out

Despite making a winning start to the 2022/23 Premier League campaign, Leeds continue to be linked with moves to bring additional strikers to Elland Road having been [extensively indexed](https://www.teamtalk.com/leeds-united/che-adams-southampton-sale-planned-price-revealed-prem-suitors-soar-past-leeds-race) to Southampton ace Che Adams in recent days.

Jesse Marsch himself [admitted](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/jesse-marsch-leeds-united-striker-24732685) that the club are ‘trying to find the right one’ to add to the striker department ahead of the September 1 deadline.

That’s because, beyond Patrick Bamford – who endured an [injury-hit](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/patrick-bamford/verletzungen/spieler/183334) 2021/22 – Marsch [only has](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/kader/verein/399) the relatively inexperienced trio of Joe Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Sonny Perkins as central attacking options, plus the [misfiring](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/rodrigo/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/131505) Rodrigo.

Meanwhile, Ramos has made a blistering start to the new term, directly contributing to [six goals in just three outings](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/leistungsdaten/spieler/550550) across all competitions, including a stunning UEFA Champions League qualifying [hat-trick](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1EkLhUCTQ-A) against FC Midtjylland.

Valued at just £12.6million and under contract until 2026 ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/marktwertverlauf/spieler/550550)), the negotiation skills of Victor Orta and Andrea Radrizanni should be in full swing in an attempt to lower the demands, but all while remaining a genuine intent to bring the [£8,200 per week](https://salarysport.com/football/liga-nos/sport-lisboa-e-benfica/) Portuguese hitman to Yorkshire.
