# Leeds: Harvey Sutcliffe suffers U21 injury

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) teenager Harvey Sutcliffe suffered a knee injury in the U21s’ 1-0 win over Sunderland on Monday.**

### The Lowdown: Pro deal

Sutcliffe, who can play as a [right-back or left-back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harvey-sutcliffe/leistungsdaten/spieler/805893), signed [professional terms](https://www.leedsunited.com/news/academy/30031/harvey-sutcliffe-agrees-professional-contract) at Elland Road over the summer.

The 19-year-old signed a two-year deal with the Whites and has featured [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harvey-sutcliffe/leistungsdaten/spieler/805893) times for the U21s this season, registering [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/harvey-sutcliffe/leistungsdaten/spieler/805893) assists.

He appears to be getting better and better, with Leeds journalist [Joe Donnohue](https://twitter.com/JoeDonnohue/status/1579568958734479360) saying Sutcliffe had ‘one of his best displays’ against Sunderland on Monday coming up against Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo, but he appears to have suffered an injury setback.

### The Latest: Crutches and knee brace

Donnohue took to [Twitter](https://twitter.com/JoeDonnohue/status/1579724730113966081) on Tuesday, sharing his report from Leeds’ 1-0 win against Sunderland.

He said that Sutcliffe left the stadium ‘on crutches’, adding in a story for [The Yorkshire Evening Post](https://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk/sport/football/leeds-united/unbeaten-leeds-united-run-extended-by-willy-gnonto-as-separate-ten-game-streak-comes-to-an-end-3874673) that the youngster was also in a knee brace as a precaution, with further tests scheduled to determine the severity of the injury.

### The Verdict: Not good

The U21s have been in fine form this season under Michael Skubala and are [top](https://www.fotmob.com/leagues/10176/overview/premier-league-2-division-2) of the Premier League 2 Division 2, with Sutcliffe playing his part at the back.

He kept Diallo, who cost Manchester United [£37m](https://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/amad-diallo-man-united-transfer-19678151), quiet earlier in the week and appears to be improving with every performance.

Therefore, along with Leeds’ left-back [shortages](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/kader/verein/399), it is a shame to see that the youngster appears to have suffered a nasty injury, with opportunities in the first-team a real possibility in the not too distant future given the issues with the likes of Junior Firpo and Stuart Dallas.

Hopefully, he’ll make a full and swift recovery.
