# Leeds: Whites interested in Goncalo Ramos

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) are thought to be interested in a move for Newcastle United transfer target Goncalo Ramos.**

### The Lowdown: Ramos profiled

Ramos is [primarily](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/profil/spieler/550550) a centre-forward who can also play in a deeper role and currently plies his trade with Benfica.

The 21-year-old has started the [2022/23 campaign](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/leistungsdaten/spieler/550550) on fire in front of goal, scoring once every 70 minutes. The Portuguese forward now has [18](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/leistungsdaten/spieler/550550) goals in [63](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/leistungsdaten/spieler/550550) Benfica appearances and has been described by broadcaster [Andy Sixsmith](https://twitter.com/SixsmithTV/status/1557644012068261890) as a player who is ‘brilliant in the air’, and it looks as if the Whites are keen on his services.

### The Latest: Leeds linked with Ramos

[Sport Witness](https://sportwitness.co.uk/newcastle-will-present-big-offer-striker-magpies-trying-anticipate-competition/) relayed an update from newspaper [Jornal de Noticias](https://jn.pt/) regarding Ramos on Tuesday.

They claimed that Newcastle are set to make a €40m (£33.6m) offer for the Benfica marksman, with Leeds, Everton, Southampton and Wolves also keen on the player.

### The Verdict: Time is ticking

The Whites appear to be fairly relaxed when it comes to further incomings, but following [recent injury scares](https://twitter.com/PhilHay_/status/1558493055350702085) involving Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt, a new forward seems to be needed before the transfer deadline.

Ramos could be a shrewd signing both in the short-term and long run as he is clearly an exciting talent who is now producing the goods on the senior stage, with a [hat-trick](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/leistungsdaten/spieler/550550) in a recent Champions League qualifier against Midtjylland highlighting his development.

The money is there at Elland Road to rival Newcastle for Ramos following the club’s [€40m](https://www.leeds-live.co.uk/sport/leeds-united/leeds-united-chairman-andrea-radrizzani-24677006) (£33.65m) offer for Charles De Ketelaere earlier in the summer, so it’ll be interesting to see if they move for the Benfica star over the coming days.
