# Leeds: Whites interested in Seko Fofana

**[Leeds United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/leeds-united-news/) are thought to be interested in signing RC Lens midfielder Seko Fofana.**

### The Lowdown: Fofana profiled

The 27-year-old, who Robin Bairner [said](https://www.givemesport.com/88078951-newcastle-34m-star-seko-fofana-transfer-news-bruno-guimaraes-at-st-james-park) is ‘known for his powerful runs’, is [primarily](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/seko-fofana/profil/spieler/182893) a central midfielder but has played in a [variety](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/seko-fofana/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/182893) of positions throughout his career ranging from holding midfield to centre-forward.

Formerly on the books of Manchester City, Fofana is valued at a career-high €30m (£26.6m) by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/seko-fofana/marktwertverlauf/spieler/182893) and is the Lens [captain](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/seko-fofana/profil/spieler/182893). He is under contract until [2025](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/seko-fofana/profil/spieler/182893) with the Ligue 1 high-fliers, but it looks as if a move could be on the cards this year.

### The Latest: Leeds interested in Fofana

[Media Foot](https://mediafoot.net/logc-nice-et-monaco-pensent-a-seko-fofana-info-media-foot/) shared a transfer update regarding Fofana on Tuesday night, claiming that a summer exit is a possibility.

The report says that Nice and AS Monaco are keen on the 27-year-old, while Leeds are also name-checked with an interest.

### The Verdict: Forshaw replacement?

The Whites [recently lost](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=2ahUKEwj73JWKt7_8AhVUilwKHcMLDlMQFnoECCAQAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.leedsunited.com%2Fnews%2Fteam-news%2F30800%2Fmateusz-klich-to-leave-leeds-united&usg=AOvVaw2Ohtlhmpk_BpD9_6B-q7fe) the services of Mateusz Klich, leaving [Jesse Marsch](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/jesse-marsch/) with just [one](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/leeds-united/kader/verein/399) out-and-out central midfielder on the books in Adam Forshaw.

Forshaw has had some [serious injury issues](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-forshaw/verletzungen/spieler/121257) in recent years and is actually [out of contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/adam-forshaw/profil/spieler/121257) at the end of the season, so Fofana could be viewed as a replacement for the 31-year-old at Elland Road.

The Ivory Coast international appears to be at the peak of his powers, so Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta may see a summer swoop as a shrewd piece of business, provided that the Whites remain in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/).
